  1. Ballycoogue got it's name because it was supposed to be the townland of the [Lands]. Some say it was called Ballycoogue from Baile Cúig or the place where the 5 townlands meet.
    Ballykillageer is supposed to have got it's name from a great chief named "Gear". Others say it is the wood of "the berries" Baile Cill na gCaor.
    Ballintemple gets it's name from the church [was] there long ago "Baile an Teampaill"
    Ballinagore - the townland of the goats Baile na nGabhar
    Ballinasillogue - the townland of the sally trees - Baile na Saileoig
    Fields:
    Luglaw - means the fields of the hawthorn
    Gortnarua - the red field
    Varnavore - is the name of one big corner of the district of Ballykillageer. It was here the pattern was held long ago and the people used to gather in a big ring around. "bearna óir"
    The bull ring - is also the same
