  2. From information I have received from an old resident in my townland, I am told by Mr P. Esemonde Dunlavin that when he was a boy very few people wore boots, only on Sundays, and that most of the people used to carry their boots under their arms until they were near the Chapel, they then sat down on the side of the road and put them on and then they would walk smartly into the Chapel. After Mass they would do likewise and carry their boots home again. When
