- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Many years ago there lived in Ballymurphy a giant named David Owen. To the present day the cave where he lived is to be seen, also the chair in which he sat is cut in the rock.
It is commonly believed that a great treasure is buried underneath the chair. To the present day no one has had the courage to look for it. There is an underground passage from the cave to the ruined castle in Coppenagh about two miles away.
At that time Ballymurphy was a thriving place. There was a mill there, a forge and several small farms and nearly all the people who occupied them were called "Murphys" hence the name "Ballymurphy".
