(1) The people all try to be at home in their own houses on Christmas Day, for its not right to go ramble.
(2) For the dinner on Christmas Day the people usually have a goose or a turkey.
(3) After dinner the plum-pudding is eaten. Whiskey is put on it, and it is then lighted, and a little blue blaze comes out of it.
St. Stephen's Day.
(1) On St. Stephens Day the people do not eat meat, so that St Stephen (D) may preserve them from all sicknesses during the year.
(2) Wren boys go around on St. Stephens Day saying the following rhyme.
The wren, the wren, the king of all birds.
St. Stephens Day she was caught in the furze.
Although she was small her family was great.
So rise up land-lady and give us a treat.
