- Nearly every farmer has a churn. It is very useful. It is about two foot wide at the top and the bottom is shaped round. The various parts of the churn are the stand, the handle, the barrel, the axle and the revolving wheel under the axle. There is a hole in the bottom of the churn for letting out the butter-milk and the water. The lid has a rubber band around it and it has a little valve for letting out the gas. The farmers wife makes the butter every week. It takes half an hour to churn. The churn is turned with the hand. It is churned end over end and the milk falls from the top to the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
