    Local Marriage Customs
In olden times when a couple were getting married the bride had to have the same amount of pots, pans, kettles, mugs, cups and plates as the groom. If a man wanted twenty five pounds with a girl and she offered him twenty pounds, they would divide and she would give him twenty two pounds ten shillings. People used to go to weddings on horseback in olden times and they used to race each other on the way home.
The month of May and the 13th of each month and every Friday were unlucky days to get married.
