  1. There is a well in (Ballygarvan?) in the parish of Tintern. It is in Mr O'Connors field it is near a bridge which is on the Owen Duff river.
The well is in a moor near the river. The well is called Our Lady's Well. A man by the name of Gaffney was out one moon light night and he saw a lady dressed in white went towards her but she disappeared.
When he went over to the Lady was he found she was standing on the edge of a well. A hawthorn grew up where the lady was standing and it was called Our Lady well ever since the Gaffney family is still there.
