  1. About one hundred years ago there was a terrible storm. It started in the middle of the night when everyone was asleep. The people had to get up out of their bed and go out and lie in gripes because they were afraid their houses would be knocked down on them. The storm lasted for several hours. When it ended the houses were very badly damaged and some of them were tossed down entirely. Then the people were left homeless. This night has been called ever since the night of the big wind.
