  1. The local industries were flax and spinning. The yarn market of Ardagh lasted seven days. The market started in harvest time when the yarn was ready. Much of this yarn was kept for home use, as everyone kept what was needed for their own use. From Ardagh market the yarn was sent to mills in Belfast Droheda and other milling centuries.
