He rushed to alarm the neighbours but alas! too late; for the home of John Byrne was a burning mass of ruins. Sad was the sight that met the neighbours eyes as they gazed on the owner of that little homestead, which was the home of his forefathers, to see even the bed his mother died in consumed in smoke.
