   was blind drunk, after the feast, thinking it was the road drove through and down they went helter skelter into the water below.
   Everyone of them was drowned and a deep hole was made by them and ever since it is called Delvin's Hole. This story was told me by my father who also told me that their ghosts are supposed to haunt it and on a certain night every year horses and a coach are said to be seen tumbling down the hill.

2. The Races Of Rathaldron

   The Races of Rathaldron (last held about 68 years ago)

   Began on Rogerstown Hill down across the Dubhóg into Simonstown across the Brocla and along the lane through the hamlet then swung right-handed for Windtown crossing Hands 'Hans[?] Field' then turning right again into Kearneys Mullag Bán then into the Longfield where the "marks of the jumbo can still be seen" and then up the hill for home to Croc an Ardán or Stage Field as it is sometimes called.
   * The fairies stopped here on their way to Mc Glews [Fort?].
   Tis said there is a Stray Sod in this field.
