  1. On the western side of Ballivor on the road leading to Mullingar and about a mile and a half from the village, there are the remains of an old thatched house which was occupied up to about thirty two years ago by a family named Grays who are all dead except (ol) one of them who is in Canada.
During the last five or six years the house was occupied four deaths occured in it, during the first night of the wake a large dog mysteriously entered the room where the corpse was and it walked around it three times and then disappeared. On a few occasions the people tried to kill him but without success.
