Hilltown House. A man the man of Synott was the first to live in it, Rooney was the next, but he was evicted. There was a thatched house at the front gate where Nelsons now live. The Blackburns were reared there.
Where Mr. Wallace now lives was Yeomanry barracks one time. A man by the name of Leavy was the first to live in it after that.
There was a great Battle fought near Clonee. We are not sure whether it was the Danes or the Normans who fought at the battle. It lasted for a couple of days and thousands of soldiers were killed. The hill where the battle was fought is now called "Soldiers Hill" or Highlanders Hill.
In the time of Dan O'Connell when the people were being robbed there was a house in the moor (Doyles) which was specially kept for the robbers. No one was let near the house. People called Callaghans are now living there.
