  1. Once upon a time an old woman was sitting at the fire. She had a family and her husband was dead. She was very poor and had not sup or bit in the house. Her children were away at school. At the side of the fireplace there was a big hole. Suddenly a big rat stepped out with a veil on. After him came smaller rats with veils on. When they marched around the floor they stood in the middle. The biggest rat of all stood up and said "Would you spare me and my family a few crumbs
