    The big tree was planted about two hundred years ago. It was planted by James McLoughlin who was employed in O'Rielly's public house. The following is the story of how it was planted. Long ago it occurred that on the pattern Sunday the Callystown people and the Clogherhead people had a fight.This Sunday the Clogherhead people were victorious. The trophy was a young tree. The tree was planted together with a barrel of oats. It grew into the big fine tree it is to-day.
