Some people think that, in fact this monastery and the one in Dromiskin were one, but, however, I do not think it possible that in those early days a monastery, a mile in length could be built. I think that the monastery occupied the site of the present graveyard. Canon Leslie in his book on Dromiskin states that it is his opinion (that it is his opinion) that this monastery crossed the new Dromiskin, White House Road which then, by the way passed behind the present graveyard.
It is said that in the end the Monks of the monastery were so persecuted by the Danes that they fled to Saint Mochta's monastery in Louth.
All that now remains of the monastery is an end wall with a window in it. It is said that a chapel was built on the ruins of the monastery, and it is difficult to know whether the wall still remaining is that of the monastery or church.
In the village there is what is called the "Monks' walk" round which the monks walked for their daily exercise and some people point it out as running behind the house of Thomas Stokes, around Henry Mc Loughlin's house and back around the house
