In the early part of the nineteenth century a family named O'Shea resided at the foot of Slievenamon near Cloneen.Mr O'Shea acquired a middle man's interest in land joining his own. From this newly acquired land he evicted tenants which of course made him unpopular and he was threatened by many people. He had several men and women employed and on one particular night a band of men surrounded the house and called on Mr. O'Shea to come out. This he refused to do. Then they set fire to the house which was a thatched one and the whole family was burned.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
