    The graveyard situated in the village of Moyne...

    The graveyard situated in the village of Moyne is commonly referred to as the churchyard is the two gables of an old church or Monastery or Temple are still standing
    The graveyard is running East + West with the Sanctuary end of the Temple Facing the Orient. There is a cave underneath the raised potion in the sanctuary leading it is said to Templeree (parish of Castle Ivy) a brother house of the Moyne house.
    Thomas Carroll the local Poet Laureate states that this building was a monastery or friary one time and that the monks were soldiers. He often entered the cave. It is arched overhead with wattles or sally rods. The baptismal font is still to be seen.
    Matthew Shanahan (R.J.P) Lisdanowly was a very devout man. He spent a short time in the christian Brothers in the U.S.A. but returned owing to ill health
