  1. I. St. Brigid’s Day :- There is no specific observance of St Brigid’s Day in this district at present. In former times however little girls went in groups from house to house on St Brigid’s Eve having with them what is known locally as the “ Brideóg “. The Brideóg according to the little girls was St Brigid herself as a very small child. At each house visited the child who held the Brideóg called out Give us some money to buy clothes for our Brideóg and the children were invariably sent away a little richer than at their coming
