    I. In olden times people used to throw a cake of bread against the kitchen door on New Year's Eve to keep out hunger for the year.
    II. On May Eve every farmer and householder would collect quickbame [quickbane?] and place a sprig on the kitchen door and in the cowhouse and in the garden and at the same time shaking holy easter water as they believed on that particular night people used to practice piseogs to injure people and take their luck.
