Five hoops were placed around the top of the barrel and four hoops on the lower portion. These hoops were made of hazel rods, fastened with split sally rod. An adze was used for clearing the inside of the barrel.
Píginí or drinking vessels were made also by the coopers in this district.
The cooper trade has ceased to be carried on in this district for the last fifty years. The first creamery was established in new Pallas in 1887.
