  1. Candle making long ago
There was a woman in this district long ago named Mrs. Danaher Nicker, Pallasgreen, Co. Limerick who was capable of making candles. My mother tells the following story:
This woman was a butcher's wife and on that account had plenty tallow from the cattle. This tallow she melted and put into a mould or shape for the purpose.
She used to put the wick into the mould when the tallow was in it. They were fine big yellow candles but were not really as good as the candles nowadays. This story was told to me by my mother
    Mrs. Donovan.
