  2. Light was a difficult thing to proide in those days. It was a usual thing to see a very thin candle the only light in a house. This candle was made by dipping a rush several times in heated tallow. It was considered wonderful advancement when some enterprising person secured what they called a mould. This article was made of metal and was about the size of an ordinary candle. In this mould a cord would be placed in the centre and the heated
