    Old people say that if a persons had chilblains they should go to the smiths' forge and take a bottle of water without letting the smith know and they would be cured of them. But if anyone should see them they would not be cured.

    This locality is very fortunate in not having any disasterous fires. There were a few fires but the only one of any note was at the Manor in the year 1855.
