- There are fairy forts in this school district. Frowley's fort is in the townland of Monemohill, and Foley's fort is in the townland of Gortnadroma. They are circular in shape, with a fence of earth and trees around each fort. There are lots of stories attached to these forts and especially to Foley's fort. The following stories are told in connection with Foley's fort.
One evening there was a crowd of young boys playing football near Foley's fort. After a while, they all went away except two. Then a fairy man came out of the fort, and he called them in, and gave them tea. When they were leaving, he gave them an apple each. He also told them not to come to the fort too often, that he might not be the house-keeper always.On another occasion there were three boys picking pig-nuts in Foley's fort, and they heard a whistle. They took no notice of it. The whistle blew a second time. The boys still took no notice. The third time they heard the whistle the fort shook around them, and they ran for their lives.One night a man named Mr. Downey, who lived a short distance from Foley's fort, was returning home from a neighbour's(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
