  2. There is one holy well in the parish of Cloyne. There is another well but it is not holy; it is said there was a miracle wrought there. The story is as follows:- A silly girl who lived in Cloyne tried to empty the well. Canon OBrien, who was parish priest of Cloyne then, got men to clean the well when it was empty. When it was clean he said prayers over it; according as he was saying them the water was gradually coming up.
    It is said there is one hairy eel in it.
    There is also a piece of glass over the well on which there are finger prints. It
