  1. In Monkstown during the years of the Famine a "Soup Kitchen" was situated where the Tennis Court now stands.
    The rectory belonged to Mr. Hazelwood, who was minister at that time, he is buried in the Monkstown graveyard.

    In the Glen, Glenbrook is the "Holy Well". During the Penal times the Priest who used to say Mass in the caves of Carrigaloe sometimes said Mass in the Glen. After saying Mass he used to wash his hands in this well.
    The people had such great faith that they prayed there, and never drew water from it. A stone with a cross carved on it stands beside the well.
    A woman, whose child's eyes were closed with sores, bathed the child in the well and his eyes became perfect.
