  1. Magar Newenham was the last landlord of Monard. He was very severe over his tenants. He lived in Coolmore, Carrigaline. He owned ten farms, the names of the tenants in these farms were, Sheehans, Aherns, Buckleys, McNamaras, Wises, Walshe's. The Buckley's and the McNamara's had two farms each.
On certain days of the year which were called Gael Days the tenants had to pay the rent and if they did not pay, the landlord threatened them that if they did not pay their rent within a few days they would be evicted. The old people that their fathers and mothers were under Magar Newenham do not remember any evictions taking place because all the tenants payed the rent on the Gael Days or before he had time to evict them.
