- In my parish of Killavullen there are two holy wells dedicated to Saint Nicholas and Saint Brannat. The former is situated in the townland of Wallstown. The practice of paying the rounds to the well of Saint Nicholas has gone out of use. Of the other, Saint Brannat's rounds are sometimes paid but nothing like in former years. There was the custom of people paying rounds to go to the well on three separate occasions. On each visit the rounds are going round the well three times and finishing up by drinking some the water. Relics were generally left behind in the shape of a piece of cloth tied(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
