    Their minds being full of treachery, as they marched into the glen
    It was there, they cruelly murdered three noble Irish men

    Sure all of us must feel, how cruelly they were betrayed
    By that informer Shiels
    The Saxon blood being in his veins he led us quite astray
    And brought the English troops on us that day at Inchivay

    For those gallant boys being fast asleep, and little did they know
    That by this cruel traitor, their precious lives were sold
    The houses were, well surrounded by English tyrants bold
    That were no match for the rebel boys that loved the green and gold
    They made a dash for liberty 'neath rifle fire and all
