   (a) "Travelling people" are almost a thing of the past and the number of permanent callers could be counted on the fingers of one hand. The old age pension was a contributory cause of their departure. None do any selling or hawking of goods.
   They call at fairly regular intervals about four or five times a year and all have fixed stations or houses for spending the night. They receive supper, bed, and breakfast and are received with tolerance and in some places welcome.
   By day they walk from house to house and the usual alms offered is a penny or two, an egg or some bread.
   Above applies to a fast diminishing number of old and infirm people.
