As usual he went in his car, but this day how ever he exchanged his seat and told the driver to sit in his seat, and he sat where the driver was and drove the horse himself.
As they were passing Inchingering Wood they heard a shot, and another one followed, and shot the driver, although, they meant to shoot Mr Hutchen. It was never found out who shot him. He was considered a bad land-lord. Richard Copithorne of Aughavilla, was evicted by Mr. Beamish who was land lord of Aughavilla and Colomane East.
It is about fifty five years since he was evicted, and he went to live in a little house near Caheragh Church. After being about six months there, he re-estated his former house in Aughaville and some of the family possess the house to this day.
A few times every year, each land lord used to go hunting, and collect a lot of men, generally his tenants to help him, to beat out the game. In the month of November generally they used to go hunting. They used all meet at Gurtnascreena Cross, lead by Peter Barry of Gurtnascreena.
That evening every man got a half crown, and used go to Aughaville Public House, and drink the money. All the men of the district used to look forward to this day.
