William Keogh grandfather to the present family was a famous ball-player. He was playing in Brideswell at one time for a barrel of beer. As the game was in progress Kelly’s carriage passed by. Miss Kelly anxious to see the game, stopped and waited until it was finished.
Keogh was victorious and he tapped the barrel of beer. He offered the first glass to Miss O’Kelly. This began an acquaintance which led to marriage. The Kellys did not approve of their daughter’s suitor, so the pair eloped. Keogh went on horseback one night to(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
