- In the year 1875 tea was drunk in Kerry for the first time. There was no kettle used when tea first came in.
The tea was put into an oven or pot after the water had been boiled in either of them. The people then drank it out of bowls.Bread.
About 1878 Stampy was used extensively.
It was made from grated raw potatoes squeezed and pressed dry and then baked on a griddle.
The object of squeezing the potatoes was to remove the starch which was used for stiffening clothes.(continues on next page)- Collector
