    Up to forty year ago Querns were in use in every house on the Island. The grinding was usually done by night. A home made linen sheet used to be spread on the table and the Quern placed on this sheet.
    The wheat was first heated in a pot at over the fire, & thus hardened before being ground.
    Some of the ground flour was eaten as "réabún". Sometimes the ground flour was boiled with water and used as gruel for supper.
