Ar an leathanach seo

  1. We keep a bull, ten cows, a dog, five cats, seven calves, two horses, four heifers, a bullock, a sow and bonhams.
The cows are named after flowers: e.g. Rose, Pansy, Wallflower, Aster etc.
When we go to drive in the cows we say "How! How!" and when calling calves we say "Suck, Suck".
"Tuk, Tuk" we say to the hens.
The cows are in a stall for milking. The stall has an earthen floor and the stands for the cows are divided by timber partitions - unsawn limbs of trees - at the head of each cow is a tub for food.
The cows are fastened to the stands by chains around their necks.
Cross cows have their legs tied while being milked. At the back of the stands is a channel. The floor must be swept and the channel washed each day, the liquid manure from the channel runs into the garden.
Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
