When a person dies in a house nowadays it is customary to have a wake. Almost all the people from the neighbouring townlands and outside districts gather to the dead person's house. The neighbours remain in the house during the night talking by the fireside of olden times. At midnight the Rosary is recited for the repose of the departed soul. The following day the remains are removed to the district Church where a Requiem Mass is celebrated. Then the remains are removed to the family burial ground where they are buried according to the rites of the Church.- Bailitheoir
