  1. There was a man named Jimmy Ward, Carrobehy, and he got married to a woman named Molly Quinn. Two nights after they got married, the woman had a dream, that there was a firkin of gold hid in a hillock in a field belonging to John Higgins, Callow. On the third night she dreamt that she would get the gold if the husband were killed. So the next night, she went to the place that she dreamt of at midnight.
There was a lot of poteen in Callow at that time, so she got a pint of it to set the husband drunk. They had only two or three sods dug, when they heard the roaring of a bull. When Jimmy heard the bull he let the spade fall, and was going to run away, when Molly caught him, and he broke away from her, and went home. So the bull went back again, and Jimmy never called the wife anything only spirit of the devil.
