  1. The big wind was on the 12th January 1839. There was a lot of destruction done on that night. There were houses and trees blown down and many other damages done. The people got up out of their beds because they were afraid the roofs would be taken of their houses.
    It is said that a woman who was afraid of been blown away tied herself to a sycamore tree.
    It is about ninty-nine years ago since the night of the big wind.
