  1. In the townland of Corderay. In the Parish of Drumshambo and in the County Leitrim, there lived a man named John Curran.
Some years ago this man dreamt of a hidden treasure not far from his own home. This dream continued for three nights in succession and brought great delight to him. In the dream he saw that there was a life to be lost before the gold could be found and he was to bring with him a neighbouring man, a large dog, and a cat of his own, for it seemed that a rat of enormous size had been protecting the money. The other man on hearing of the large rat and the life to be lost refused to go and by asking another man he broke the charm. Some time afterwards the rock under which the treasure had been hoarded was stripped. The treasure may be there yet but there may be a spell on it and that is why no one can get it.
