Ar an leathanach seo
- The Cam, a vessel used for holding the grease.
This cam was a shallow, egg-shaped pot, kept for this purpose. Sometimes the bottom of an old pot did.
In this cam the rosin, soap and water were put and all boiled together. The next thing was to get a piece of cotton the required length pull it through the grease in the cam and then roll the candle in the hands. Next allow to dry.
These candles were poor, very dirty showing a flickering, bad light.
Every now and then a long black portion formed on the wick. Then was removed with a snuffers.
These snuffers worked on the same principle as a scissors only that there was a kind of box on one blade into which the bit fell when(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
