    The children that used to go to it had to sit on tree trunks, and write on slates with nails.
    The teacher used to give each pupil a pin who knew his lessons best
    When a pupil did not know his lessons, the teacher got the smallest child to put a dunce cap on him.
    The name of the teacher of that school was Mrs Gordon.
    There was another hedge school at Lisnagore. It was built of sods and the roof of rushes and it was at the back of a ditch.
    There was an old school at Rawdeerpar. It was called the Porridge house school, because they made porridge in it the time of the great famine.
