    other faction was from BallyPhilip (2 miles South East of Clomantagh School) They used to come to Mass to Clomantagh.
    One evening when the Killasheelan Freshford were coming from the fair of Kilkenny they called into where Mrs. Hanlen now lives (Kilrush on main road Clomantagh to Freshford) where there was a public house. There was a lad by the name of ONeil from the Ballyphillip Country inside. He didn't belong to any faction but when he heard the Killasheelan men coming he knew they would have drink taken so he got out through a window and ran thro' the fields. The Killasheelan men chased him, and over took him making for Belville (a few fields to the East (back of) public house). They killed him. The following Sunday when the factions came to Mass there was a squabble between the Ballyphillip and the Killasheelan crowd. The following Sunday both factions came prepared. The met at Dowlings Public House (now a farm house occupied by Ed. Dowling. They fought there. They fought before Mass. During the Mass in the chapel they again fought
