Next morning the Church door was opened and the frightened man relieved his secret to the parish-priest who said he would go to the Church that night. Midnight arrived after much excitement and the priest came out again on the altar repeating the same words. The onlooker rose from his hiding place, hesitated and made his way to the p altar pale and staggering he served the Mass after which the spirit told the priest that he was not allowed to enter the gates of Heaven unless he said a Mass he neglected for a dead person.
