Once upon a time a man named Jack Lenehan of Kye Elphin was supposed to be a great trainer of dogs. One day Martin Kearns went into Lenehans out of the rain. Lenehan boasted that he had the best dog in Ireland. Then he told the dog to go hint and fetch", on the minute the dog went and brought the cows to the door.
One night there was a wake in a neighbours house. Martin Kearns was there, Jack Lenehan came in and was saying his prayers, when Martin Kearns said, "go hint and fetch. "That, the devil may take you", said Lenehan. The people thought that it was to the corpse he said it. So they threw sods of turf and lit coals at him.
