Rackwallace. The land is not very good and it is very rushy. A river runs through the townland, it starts in a bog called Lisnalee and it flows right through Castleshane right to the Blackwater. There are six families in Lismacreak, the most of them are Grays. Most of the houses are slated. The house we now live in the people emigrated from it. There is one old in the town land her address is
    Mrs. Ross
    Lismacreak
    Dunraymond PO
    Co. Monaghan
    Ireland.
She is over eighty years of age. Mrs. Ross has since died.

  2. The townland in which I live is called Crosses. It is about three miles from the town of Monaghan , which is a very good marlet town and it is six miles from Ballybay a town which is noted for its horse fairs. Crosses is a very good farming townland and always produces good crops The main crops grown are potatoes, corn and turnips.
Sometimes flax is sown but not by many of the farmers. My father has sown wheat these last two years and it has been very good. There are six townlands adjoining Crosses. They are Ardaghy, Greaglass, Moyles, Beaghbarton, Corness and Ballinagall. There is not very much bogland except one fairly big bog on Johnston's land. Eleven families hae their homes in Crosses and there are four families with an equal number Erskines and two of Gillanders and in all the houses of Gillanders and Erskines there are fifty-three children. The oldest man in Crosses is my grandfather and he is over eighty years of age. He is still able to get about we like to hear him tell stories about the things that happened in his young days. We are all very fond of our townland and like to know that we belong to Crosses
