  1. There is one castle in the Demesne Castleblaney, Barony of Cremorne, Parish of Muckno. This castle was built by the chieftain of Monaghan, Hugh McMahon. It was built in the 13th century. It was besieged by Essex and was plundered, but it was rebuilt in the 14th century.
    In this castle there is a dungeon. One day a young man came to the castle.
    This was after McMahons death. He went down into the dungeon, and after a time he found a gold chalice. He took it home and his mother told him to leave it back. He went back with it but on coming back he caught hold of a stone. Just them a
