- In olden times people had very good cures. If a person had yellow jaundice they used to say that a very good cure for it was to boil the dandelion and drink the juice of it. a little plant called the groundsel was a good cure for head ache. there was another little herb that grew in marshy places which was very good for a sprained ankle. If a person had a toothache a good cure for it was to grind the leg of a frog. People used to go to holy wells if they had any sore or ailment. They used to wash the sore in the water and it was healed. A cure for a boil was to rub soap to it. The cure for a sore lip was the root of a dockleaf.
