  1. On St. Stephen's Day grown-ups boys and sometimes a few grown-up girls dress fantastically and go from house to house asking for "something to bury the wren." They have and play musical instruments and when they approach each house they all sing:-
    The wren - the wren, the king of all birds
    On this day we've caught him in the furze.
    Although he is little, his family is great,
    So rise up Landlady and give us a treat.
    If the get money which is expected they g into the kitchen and sing an dance steps or a Set.
    When the day's works is completed like this, the money is counted and in a week or two after they all again assemble in one house and have a great night's dance and refreshments are bought with the money collected.
    The same procedure is carried on St. Brigid's Night, but the saying this time is "Something for the Biddy". One of the party on this occasion
