- The local landlord was the Gore Boothes of Lissadell. A short and pleasant sail from Rosses Point across Drumcliffe channel brings us to the delightdul demesne of Lissadell the seat of the Gore Boothe family.
The four masters state that in 1213 the place was occupied by a poet of great reputation, and he killed the collector of tribute levied by the chief of Tir Connel. The poet flying from the vengeance O Donnell sought refuge with De Burgo a Connact man. O Donnell pursued the poet who had to fly to Scotland.
The Gores came to Lissadell in the beginning of the eighteenth century but the present mansion does not date further back than the nineteenth century.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
